Part-Time Picker/Packer

Company: SBH

Department: Distribution Centers

Reports to: Warehouse Supervisor or Manager

Essential Function: This job consists of duties involving training of the order pulling process utilizing the Standard Operating Procedures, or, the duties involving the shipping of international product following all International shipping regulations. This position represents a specialist level, and one must know and be able to perform all of the duties of a Picker/Packer 2 and Forklift Operator 2 in addition to other specialized training.

Hours: Flexible part-time schedule, up to 29 hours.

Primary Duties:

  • Provide clear, concise statements using action verbs to describe what is done, with or for whom the action is taken and the purpose or outcome to be achieved. Responsibilities should be listed in order of percentage of time spent performing the actual duty.
  • May complete training and/or guidance related to the process of order pulling to ensure all order pullers are compliant with the Standard Operating procedures.
  • May complete the activity of Special Operations International which includes being able to complete all aspects of distribution including the receiving, picking, packing, and shipping of products following all international shipping regulations.
  • Maintains a safe work environment, performs job functions in a safe manner, and reports any potential job hazards to management, including maintaining good housekeeping practices.
  • Maintains productivity related to standards based on assigned task.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested by management.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Requires 4 years directly related experience or 5 years of related experience
  • Must know and be able to perform Picker/Packer 2 job and Forklift Operator 2 job
  • Special Operations International job must be able to become certified in all required regulatory classifications
  • Advanced computer skills

  • Must be able to maintain neat and accurate records
  • Operates all lift equipment in a safe manner to ensure personal protection and to ensure the protection of other personnel and company property
  • Must be skilled in arithmetic and have ability to read and interpret orders, product description, and/or numbers in the English language.

Working Conditions /Physical Requirements:

  • Repetitively lift cartons weighing 10 to 55 pounds
  • Stand/Walk for 6 to 10 hours a day
  • Must be able to climb up and down stairs and ladders
  • See and read labels on products, product containers and packages
  • Must be able to work in temperatures ranging from 25 degrees Fahrenheit to 105 degrees Fahrenheit
  • May be exposed to fumes and odors on occasion
  • Visual ability must have accurate depth perception
  • Must have adequate hearing to hear warnings from powered vehicles, emergency alarms, and verbal announcements
