Title: Sterile Processing Coordinator
Location: Long Beach, CA
Duration: 13 weeks (Contract-to-Permanent Opportunity)
Shift: Evening Shift, 2nd Shift (15:00 – 23:30)

 

Job Responsibilities:

• Supervise and coordinate daily operations of the Sterile Processing Department to ensure efficient workflow and adherence to all quality and safety standards.
• Oversee the decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments and medical equipment.
• Ensure compliance with ANSI/AAMI standards, manufacturer Instructions for Use (IFUs), and internal SOPs.
• Conduct and review quality assurance audits, verifying proper documentation and record-keeping.
• Train, mentor, and evaluate sterile processing technicians, promoting professional growth and competency.
• Manage equipment functionality, calibration, and preventive maintenance in collaboration with technical support teams.
• Partner with leadership on staffing schedules, timekeeping, and performance management.
• Collaborate with surgical services, operating room staff, and other departments to ensure timely instrument availability.
• Maintain a safe and compliant environment by enforcing infection control and occupational safety standards.
• Support inventory management, including monitoring supply levels and coordinating reorders.
• Participate in continuous quality improvement and KPI monitoring initiatives.
• Provide direct supervision for all sterile processing staff during assigned shift and serve as the primary contact for operational issues.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Minimum of 3 years of sterile processing or central service experience, including supervisory or leadership responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of sterilization procedures, infection control practices, and regulatory compliance.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Proficient in quality audits, staff training, and workflow management.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Certifications:

• CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) – required
• BLS Basic Life Support - required

CIS (Certified Instrument Specialist) – preferred\n\nCHL (Certified Healthcare Leader) – preferred\n\nHigh school diploma or equivalent – required\n\nCollege degree or 3+ years of leadership experience – preferred
