Job Title: RN – Wound Care
Location: Brooklyn, NY
Contract Duration: 13 Weeks (Extendable)
Shift: 5×8 Days | 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Compensation:
Travelers: Up to $3,800/week
Local: Up to $3,200/week
A healthcare facility in Brooklyn is seeking an experienced Wound Care Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive wound, ostomy, and continence care. The ideal candidate will support patient management, staff education, interdisciplinary collaboration, and quality improvement initiatives while ensuring high standards of care.
Education RequirementsAssociate Degree in Nursing (ASN/ADN) from an accredited nursing program.
Minimum 2 years Med/Surg experience with wound and colostomy care.
Develop, revise, and evaluate wound-care standards; assist in choosing supplies, equipment, and technologies.
Assess, treat, and document patient responses for wounds, ostomies, fistulas, continence issues, and complex wound cases.
Evaluate quality and delivery of care provided by unit staff.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and refer to additional disciplines as necessary.
Provide patient and family education on wound, ostomy, and continence care.
Deliver and assess staff education, including new-hire orientation and in-service training.
Conduct pressure-injury risk assessments and implement preventive strategies.
Communicate and escalate challenges, ethical issues, and conflict-resolution needs.
Work closely with nursing leadership to recommend and implement best practices.
Participate in facility-wide quality improvement activities, including incidence/prevalence studies.
Provide culturally competent care consistent with diverse values and beliefs.
Maintain confidentiality and comply with patient-rights policies.
Engage in ongoing professional development to maintain clinical competency.
Identify and coordinate community resources for patients.
Manage and track wound-care equipment, including specialty beds and negative-pressure devices.
Active New York State RN License
AHA BLS
One or more of the following wound-care credentials (preferred unless noted otherwise):
CWOCN – WOCNCB
CWON – WOCNCB
CWCN – WOCNCB
CWS – ABWM
WCC – NAWCO
