Job Description

We are seeking a Materials Manager who will be in charge of overseeing activities related to the procurement of Direct materials, parts, components and equipment. Directs and coordinates activities of personnel engaged in procurement consistent with delivery requirements and quality specifications. Typical duties include preparing instructions regarding purchasing systems and procedures, establishing goals for purchasing department, following policies and procedures for procurement activities, managing and guiding a team of buyers and expeditors to meet procurement and supplier management goals, interfacing with procurement groups to update and maintain company procurement strategies, implementing processes with suppliers to improve on-time delivery and Purchase Price Variance, helping implementation of Vendor Managed Inventory models, supervising the team in the management of the supply chain to achieve continuous timely supply of parts and services, approving purchase orders and change notices through subordinates, and reviewing purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy. The role typically requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and extensive knowledge of purchasing policies and practices, a minimum of 10 years of related experience, with a Master’s degree preferred. The candidate should demonstrate expert functional, technical, people and/or process management skills as well as supplier relationship skills, and detailed expertise in complex functional/technical areas or broad knowledge in multiple areas with understanding of the strategic impact of the function across sites.
