Forklift Operator (Reach Truck)
Sparks, MD

Pay Rate: $18.00/hour
Shift: 1st Shift | Monday–Friday | 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM

GENERAL SUMMARY

The Material Handler II is responsible for the safe, accurate loading, unloading, movement, and storage of product within the distribution center. This role supports inbound, outbound, and inventory operations while maintaining safety, quality, and productivity standards.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Pallet / Case Picking

• Process customer orders including scanning barcodes, picking, labeling, and packing boxes
• Use RF/voice technology to pick, pack, and process orders
• Verify accuracy and ensure proper shipment packaging
• Maintain work areas according to SOPs and work instructions
• Follow Good Documentation Practices (GDP)
• Complete required RF device training

Pallet Build and Shipping

• Palletize completed orders by scanning, retrieving, and staging pallets
• Re-palletize products as needed for shipment
• Perform dock manifest duties, including pallet scanning and shrink-wrapping
• Transport pallets using material handling equipment when required
• Verify shipment accuracy and packaging integrity

Inbound / Outbound / Inventory Movement

• Load and unload inbound and outbound shipments using the WMS
• Handle pallets safely to prevent damage and ensure product integrity
• Operate parcel manifest stations and prepare transportation documentation as assigned
• Complete tasks in a timely manner while following department procedures

Material Handling Equipment (MHE)

• Safely operate MHE such as order pickers, reach trucks, counterbalance forklifts, dock stockers, and pallet jacks
• Report equipment damage or maintenance issues immediately
• Maintain valid equipment certifications at all times

Safety, Quality, and Housekeeping

• Follow all safety instructions and operating procedures to prevent injuries
• Report injuries, accidents, hazards, or unsafe conditions immediately
• Maintain warehouse security and report suspicious activity
• Support organizational quality goals
• Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area at all times

Additional Responsibilities

• Maintain current status in required training modules
• Participate in Hazmat training as assigned
• Cross-train in other warehouse functions and provide backup coverage as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• High school diploma or GED, or 2 years of relevant experience
• Experience operating material handling equipment
• Ability to obtain and maintain forklift certification
• Good verbal communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, metrics-driven distribution environment
• Ability to read and interpret distribution and shipping documents
• Strong teamwork skills with the ability to work under minimal supervision
• Basic analytical, organizational, and prioritization skills
• General knowledge of distribution center operations

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting
• Frequent use of hands and repetitive motion
• Occasional climbing
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs in some areas
• Regular exposure to moving mechanical equipment
• Reasonable accommodations may be made in accordance with the ADA
