Director of Cruise Activities

American Cruise Lines, the largest USA flagged cruise line, is seeking enthusiastic and dynamic Directors of Cruise Activities to join our shipboard team for the 2026 season. We operate exclusively within the United States, providing a unique small ship experience with a maximum of 200 passengers. With exciting new vessels being added to our fleet, this is an excellent opportunity to be part of our shipboard management team.

The Director of Cruise Activities is the primary ambassador for our guests, responsible for fostering a lively atmosphere while engaging passengers through a variety of entertaining activities, shows, events, and social interactions throughout their cruise. This leadership position calls for an energetic, creative, and talented individual with prior cruise or resort experience, outstanding presentation skills, a collaborative mindset, and a deep commitment to guest satisfaction. The Director will report directly to the Hotel Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement captivating entertainment, enrichment, and activity programs that enhance guests' experiences.
  • Communicate effectively with guests through various channels including daily programs, television, public address systems, and personal interactions.
  • Engage with guests during meals and social events, building rapport and fostering community.
  • Welcome guests during their excursions and provide updates during daily announcements.
  • Coordinate with the Excursions Director and onboard entertainers to schedule engaging presentations and activities.
  • Oversee logistics for events, ensuring all lounges and settings are ready for activities, including audio/visual requirements.
  • Support the onboarding and performance needs of entertainers, guest speakers, and instructors.
  • Promote onboard branding, leading re-booking events to encourage guest loyalty.
  • Monitor and report on guest feedback and communicate regularly with the Home Office regarding their cruise experiences.
  • Perform bartending duties as required in collaboration with other management personnel.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience on cruise ships is preferred, but candidates with upscale hotel or resort backgrounds will also be considered.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional speaking and presentation skills are a must.
  • Strong interpersonal, social, and critical thinking skills.
  • Basic knowledge of audio/visual equipment is necessary.
  • Must be enthusiastic, confident, and maintain a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Excellent time management skills and attention to detail.
  • Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) required.

Work Schedule:

  • Work 7 days a week while onboard.
  • Commit to 6 to 8 weeks of onboard service followed by 1 to 2 weeks of shore leave.
