Job Summary:
The Fire Protection Designer is responsible for creating, modifying, and maintaining detailed 3D models, design drawings, and schematics using design software. The Fire Protection Designer ensures that designs adhere to industry standards and project specifications.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Essential Duties/Responsibilities include some or all of the following:
· Responsible for providing an accurate and correct system design of the model drawings, consistent with direction from the project engineer
· Demonstrated ability to interpret and accurately reflect the scope of work, specs, and design criteria in a drawing or model
· Must be able to perform field checks
· Responsible for complying with company design standards
· Regular interaction with supervisors and other designers to coordinate projects, be aware of changes, and provide accurate, current details
· Answer design-related questions from the shop, layout, or field personnel
· Complete assigned work in a timely, efficient, and precise manner
· On occasion, it may be necessary to prepare proposal drawings or perform miscellaneous engineering tasks.
· Attends model reviews, project coordination, and drawing review meetings.
· Other tasks as assigned
· Regular attendance at work is an essential duty.
· Conform to company Quality, Environmental, and Safety policies, any environmental laws, regulations, standards, and other requirements, such as permits to operate.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Knowledge of design software is required, with a preference for experience with AutoSprink.
· Strong understanding of drafting techniques, design principles, and industry standards.
· Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in technical drawings are essential.
· Good organizational and time management skills.
· Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
· Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
· Ability to interpret and apply technical standards, codes, and regulations.
· Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
· Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
Education, Experience, and Training:
Education: No degree required
Experience: 5 years of experience, knowledge of Fire Protection Design
Certification: NICET III required
