SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The Assessment, Research and Evaluation (ARE) department's Academic Testing and Systems Support Specialist will serve as SLP's primary District Assessment Coordinator (DAC). During the school year, the Specialist will order testing materials and stay updated on the Minnesota Department of Education's procedure manual for state testing. The Specialist will provide technical assistance and provide support to users by troubleshooting problems with computer software related to managing assessment systems. In addition to assessment, this role will build and support the maintenance of accurate records for homeschooling and student teaching placements for the district's Instruction and Learning Team. Throughout the school year, the Specialist will work closely with the district's Data Scientist and Title Coordinator to ensure that student data is being collected in a timely and accurate manner. During the spring and summer, the Specialist will work closely with the Executive Director of ARE to support the technical aspects of the Youth Data Analyst summer internship program.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Identifies, investigates, and resolves user problems with assessment systems software (NWEA, Fastbridge, Pearson Access Next etc.).
  • Fields support calls, chat, email, and/or other communication from users with inquiries regarding testing software programming, connectivity, and similar concerns.
  • Consults with users to determine steps and procedures taken to identify and resolve the problem.
  • Applies knowledge of computer software, assessment systems, and procedures to solve problems.
  • Guides users through diagnostic and troubleshooting processes, which may include use of diagnostic tools and software and/or following verbal instructions.
  • Collaborates with other staff to research and resolve problems.
  • Collaborates with programmers to explain errors and/or recommend modifications in programs.
  • Uploads and maintains student rosters for computer based assessments with the support of the Assessment and Research Specialist.
  • Maintains the Teaching and Learning supply spreadsheet and provides weekly updates about requests coming to the department.
  • Collaborate and coordinate supplies/materials with various vendors and sites.
  • Maintains records for homeschooled students and families.
  • Compiles and mails annual Individual Student Reports (ISRs) to families.
  • Ensures that logistics for the Youth Data Analyst (YDA) summer internship program are executed in a timely manner.
  • Supports the work of the ARE department in a culturally responsive manner.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Teaching and Learning Team.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Some college is preferred but not required
  • At least three years of experience in technical support highly preferred
  • Experience working in an educational setting is desirable, but not required.
